End Of Project Blog!

I had a lot of fun doing this project. But I am very happy we are done with it so I can think about other things. It really was a life changing experience.

20% Time Speech

                                                             20% Time Speech

Accomplished or incomplete? For my project I was learning how to care and ride horses. I accomplished my goal by learning more about horses, their abilities, how to ride them, and how to jump higher. I talked to my trainer and I went and worked out at the stables. This measured up to my goal because I learned more about how to care and ride horses. I learned that horses are all different and have different personalities. I still want to learn how to train horses and how to ride western. Some challenges along the way were when the horse would refuse the jumps or when I fell off. But I dealt with these challenges by getting right back on and trying again. My biggest accomplishments are when I began jumping higher and when the horse did what he was told and when I told the horse the right thing to do. I consider these accomplishments because if I didn’t try over and over again than it wouldn’t happen. But I tried my hardest and stuck with it. I personally think that I have advanced a lot since I began. I have learned a lot from my experience. I have also ridden some difficult horses and fallen off but it’s good to make mistakes so you can correct them and learn from them.

The Horse I Ride!

This is Eli he can be so stubborn but so sweet. Sometimes he tries to refuse on the jumps. He likes to stand in the middle of the arena. So you really have to take control.

How not to Fall off a horse!

So when your on a horse the main thing to do so you don't fall off is hold on and have the girth tight enough. I have fallen of about 2 times. So the first time it had rained earlier that day and I went to ride for my lesson. Once I got on we did the usual warm up. After that we were trotting and he was acting kind of nervous and spooked when we came close to the puddles. So I went around again and he got spooked and no one knew he would do this he swerved to the side and I fell to the opposite side that he swerved. Then I got up and got back on to continue my lesson.

The second time I was on the same horse and we were cantering and he likes to speed up while cantering. So he started to go really fast and I was trying to get him to slow down and I lost a stirrup. I then went out of the saddle and fell on my arm and side. I got up got back on and keep going. I felt my arm feel wet and I looked at my elbow and I had scraped my arm really bad. Those are my falls and I have some more fails but I'll tell y'all about it later. Bye Guys!

Cantering over about 18 inches

In this video I canter jumps on a horse named Eli. Eli is a horse that likes to refuse to go over the jumps and take advantage of smaller people that can't control him. But I have ridden Eli plenty of times so and I can control him. If a horse is like that you need to show them who is going to make the decisions and teach the horse that your the boss. But I just wanted to let you guys know that little bit of info anyway bye!

Mounting Bareback

So if you wanted to know how to mount a horse bareback here we go. You first need to make sure the horse is comfortable with having someone jump or feel you on his/her back. You then grab their mane and it doesn't hurt them because they don't have nerves there. You need to have arm and leg strength to do this though. So after you have the mane in your hand you want to jump and hoist yourself onto the horse or you can lay yourself over the horses back and get up by throwing your leg over and sitting up.
But if you don't get it the first time just try again but before you try again you need to rub or praise your horse for just standing there and being obedient. Then you try again but this time try harder to pull yourself up and onto the horse and then praise them once your on. That's the way I  would get up on a horse bareback. But if you do it differently just let me know its cool to see how others do things differently!

Intermediate Riders

Today I will be talking about what intermediate riders do in there lessons. First as always we stand up in our stirrups. You then trot the horse to warm up.  Intermediate riders jump courses while the beginners just walk over poles. So after the horse is warmed up we canter and to get a horse to canter or really do anything you have to ask the horse to go then if they don't you tell the horse to go and then if the horse doesn't go you command the horse to go. But to canter you ask, tell, and command. while you are doing that you have to kick the horse forward. While cantering if you feel the horse start to slow down you need to squeeze and if you have a crop and they don't go then tap them with the crop. Some of you might not know what a canter is but it is faster than a trot but slower than a gallop. That's all today bye guys!
